A Little About Me
Pleasure to meet you—my name is Shlomi Ben Meir. I have served in the Israel Defense Forces for nearly 20 years in a wide range of operational intelligence roles on the Northern Front, Central Command, and the Gaza border.
After being wounded and discharged from mandatory military service at the age of X, I chose to dedicate my life to supporting children with cancer through a nonprofit organization, Kav LaChaim.
Then, in [year], when I was 32 years old and already a father, I made the decision to return to military service. Despite my relatively advanced age, I graduated from the IDF Officers’ Course as an outstanding cadet, was selected as IDF Chief of Staff’s Outstanding Officer, and over the years, moved up to the rank of Colonel (Res.).
I am a qualified attorney, a graduate of the IDF Command and Staff College, and hold a Master’s degree in Law.
My personal story is living proof that there is no obstacle that cannot be overcome—on the battlefield and in life itself.

The War of Revival – Swords of Iron
The Intelligence Behind the Maneuver
On October 7th, long before 7:00 a.m., I was among the first to be called from my home to base. As Commander of the Intelligence Maneuver Center, I led approximately 2,600 intelligence personnel responsible for producing “intelligence to the edge”—the precise, real-time information that guides combat forces deep inside enemy territory.
Focus of the Lecture:
Behind-the-scenes intelligence operations during the longest war we have ever faced; the dramatic rescue of dozens of wounded civilians from the Nova music festival under fire; and the command-level dilemmas involved in managing the intelligence nerve center of the IDF’s ground maneuver.
Operation Protective Edge
The Battle of Shuja’iyya and the Exposure of the Tunnels
The story of an intelligence officer called to leave the Northern Front and join the intense fighting in the south. I take the audience into one of the fiercest battles in the Gaza Strip, where I served as Brigade Intelligence Officer of the 828th Brigade.
Focus of the Lecture:
The complex operation to locate and destroy four cross-border terror tunnels; leadership in the face of losing comrades and subordinates in the heart of battle; and the values of a moral army fighting to defend its home.
